Meet UaB Vice President - Erica
Erica L. Epps, MBA
Originally from Thomasville, Georgia, a small town located in Southwest Georgia, Erica always had “Big” dreams and aspirations. She knew from an early age that furthering her education would create many opportunities. After attending a college tour during her senior year of high school, Erica set her sights on attending HBCU Albany State University, in Albany, Georgia.
Erica received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Nairobi, Kenya of East Africa. There, she completed relevant courses such as International Business, Marketing, and Kiswahili Foreign Language Studies.
Erica moved to Ohio in March of 2013 where she held a leadership role for InfoCision in Green, Ohio. Under her leadership, she was able to lead her team to winning “Outstanding Team of the Quarter” and was the recipient of the “Outstanding Supervisor Award” (2014). Erica relocated to Cincinnati and held other leadership roles at STARTEK, USA, working with companies such as Cincinnati Bell, Cox Communications and AT&T.
In 2016, Erica made the decision to further her education and was accepted into the graduate program at Miami University Farmer School of Business where she earned her MBA in December 2018. This knowledge, coupled with her drive for success has provided her with the valuable skills she uses daily in problem solving and strategic thinking while currently working at Fifth Third Bank. During her tenure at Fifth Bank, Erica has been the recipient of the Career Empowerment Program Award and is currently a member of the African American Business Resource Group (AABRG), where she serves on the Community Outreach Committee.
Erica is very passionate and committed to being the change she wants to see in her community. She serves as a youth mentor for the Ladies of Leadership Program for young ladies ages 8 to 18 in Cincinnati and surrounding counties and she is now continuing her legacy as Vice President of UNapologetically BLACK (UaB). “We Rise by Lifting Others” and Erica intends to do so one Nubian King and Queen at a time.
